Values and Approach
Person- and Community-Centered
An integrative approach to honoring the individual as expert of their own experience, while recognizing the role of community (internally and externally) for wellbeing and transformation. Consultation services balance individual and family needs with a community and systems perspective.
Trauma-Informed & Trauma-Focused
Our experiences and the experiences of those who have come before us mold how we show up in the world today. All services are trauma-informed and often trauma-focused, such as through EMDR or an IFS approach in psychotherapy. Immigration evaluations are conducted with careful consideration of the impact on trauma on the individual or family.
Culturally-Responsive and Culturally-Specific
Kara is fully bilingual in Spanish and English and has extensive transnational, transcultural experience, particularly with Latine communities, though she herself is not Latina. All services center the impact of intersecting identities and positionalities while also referring out to BIPOC experts and leadership whenever most appropriate.
Solidarity & Liberation
One cannot exist without the other. As a practice, Morea Wellness & Consultation actively responds to the needs created by injustice around us, locally and globally, in solidarity. Yet we must also cast vision for a greater flourishing in individuals, families, and communities. We move from surviving to thriving and we seek liberation as the goal.
