Meet Kara

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Washington State who is deeply passionate about the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities. I am here to listen and accompany you or your organization to not only meet immediate needs but also to discover new possibilities and long-term flourishing.

As a bilingual English and Spanish speaker, I have dedicated the majority of my practice to working alongside diverse populations both in the United States and abroad, most often with Latine communities though I am not Latina myself. Along this journey, I have…

  • Worked as an advocate in domestic violence and sexual assault crisis centers and case manager in refugee resettlement programs

  • Developed comprehensive trauma response programs for women and children impacted by sexual exploitation in South America

  • Led and supervised multidisciplinary teams of mental health clinicians, case managers, peers, and educators

  • Provided psychotherapy for individuals and groups with a broad spectrum of experiences and diagnoses in community mental health settings

  • Coordinated staff care initiatives to prevent and respond to high levels of vicarious trauma and burnout in social service agencies

  • Led community engagement workshops and trainings to teach and parents, neighbors, and community leaders to respond more effectively to the mental health needs of their families and communities

  • And provided training and consultation to schools and non-profit organizations seeking to build capacity to make their programs and activities more trauma-informed, culturally-responsive, and evidence-based
